Everything is Different Now is an experimental documentary that reflects on the life of Jon Ernst in the context of his progressive rock band, Now. For Jon, co-founder and frontman of Now, his lifelong dream of becoming a rockstar came true for a few short years, but eventually fell through due to his increasingly troubled use of alcohol, and the eventual dissolving of the band.
The film will mirror a psychedelic experience as we float through memories and in between the past and present. The film will feature a mixed media format, with each medium serving a specific purpose. The primary methods will be 16mm film in black and white, and 4k digital footage, with VHS footage serving as the main medium for the archival footage. The title cards will also feature animations as they delineate each chapter of the film.
Everything is Different Now is currently in the development phase, with shooting taking place in August 2025. We are in the process of applying to grants and fundraising.
